The
original San Diego Harbor Excursion has been in operation
on San Diego Bay since 1915. Oakley J. Hall, known
as "cap" Hall,
founder of the company, began his maritime career by
running a ferry boat along the harbor. Coming to San
Diego in 1891 at the age of 13, he attended Middletown
and Point Loma schools, but never made it past the
eighth grade. Captain Hall's mother, Mary Etta Creswell,
was the first women to earn a motor boat operator's
license on the west coast. Love of the waterfront was
a family tradition.
In 1905, Mr Hall bought the Star Boat House and then
merged with Ralph Chandler, owner of the Crescent Line
in 1915. The merger represented the birth of the Star
and Crescent Boat Company, better known today as the
Original San Diego Harbor Excursion.
In 1984, the Star and Crescent Boat Company was purchased
by the existing stockholders.
The company provides numerous services including,
Harbor Tours, Ferry and Water Taxi transportation,
